Chapter 1347 The Bold Writer and Kazama
Chapter 1347 The Bold Writer and Kazama
Inside the bookstore, Kazama's mother gently asked Kazama, who was hesitating by the bookshelf, "Tetsu, have you decided which book to borrow?"
"Hmm! This one, 'Hanako's Extraordinary Curry'!" Kazama said to his mother with delight, looking at the book in his hand. However, the cover looks like Nanako's.
Upon seeing the book title, Kazama's mother clapped her hands and exclaimed, "Wow, that sounds interesting!"
"But isn't that for kids?" a voice came from the side. Kazama shook his head: "No, no, the girl on the cover is so cute!" Kazama immediately gave himself away. Suddenly, he realized what he was doing and looked at the person in front of him: "Ah! Wait, it's Shin-chan!"
"And me too." Mingxu stood not far away, holding a book in his hand, and casually waved.
"Hello." Nanako also came over and greeted them.
"Hello." Kazama's mother also quickly greeted Kazama.
"I came to the library for a date with Nana-chan today~" Shin-chan said smugly, since Xiao-xu was practically invisible to him.
Nana smiled and didn't seem to mind, then looked at Kazama's mother and asked, "Have you found any interesting picture books?"
“I think this book looks interesting,” Kazama said with a smile, pointing to the book in his hand.
"Oh, hey, that book was written by my dad!" Nanako said with some surprise when she saw the familiar cover.
"Huh? Ohara Shiro!"
"Your father wouldn't happen to be that novelist, would he?" Kazama's mother asked curiously.
“Yes, this seems to be the only picture book he ever wrote.” Nana smiled gently.
"So Nanako's father is such an amazing person," Kazama's mother said, looking at Nanako with some surprise.
Shin-chan suggested, "Why don't we go and meet my future father-in-law?"
"Huh?" Kazama was taken aback, but then, realizing something, he immediately agreed. Mingxu shrugged and followed, after all, he had come out with them today, and it wouldn't be good to act alone.
Meanwhile, at Nana's father's house, he was covering his head, staring at the papers in front of him, feeling a lack of inspiration.
"Teacher, the deadline is today..." the editor said to Ohara Shiro with a hint of helplessness.
"I know, but inspiration hasn't struck yet!" Ohara Shiro shouted impatiently.
"Seriously, please, hurry up and think of a solution." The editor didn't dare to urge them too much and could only mutter to himself.
At the doorway, several pairs of eyes were watching this side: "That's Sister Nana's father."
"Um, is it not possible to take a break this time?" Ohara Shiro tried to discuss it with the editor.
"Absolutely not! Just write the first line, it doesn't matter what the content is," the editor suggested, offering a terrible idea.
"Here, it's written." Ohara Shiro casually wrote a few words on the paper and handed it to the editor.
"It's so noisy! What is this? Is it writing about me?" the editor said, annoyed.
"Yes, it's you!" Ohara Shiro looked at him with annoyance.
"Really, Dad, what are you doing again?" Nanako saw her father inside throwing a tantrum and hurriedly went in to comfort him.
"Oh, Nanako, you're here."
"Hello," the editor said with a smile when he saw Nana.
Seeing this, Shin-chan jumped inside and shouted to Ohara Shiro, "Father-in-law, it's been a long time!"
"Huh? You're here too..." Ohara Shiro looked at Shin-chan, his lips twitching.
"Hello, teacher," Mingxu said politely.
"Oh, it's you. Hello." Ohara Shiro looked at Mingxu and couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. With him around, things would be easier for him.
Kazama quickly introduced himself, "I am Kazama Toru."
"He's Shin-chan's friend. Today, this little brother Kazama borrowed a picture book you wrote before," Nanako introduced, pointing to Kazama.
"This is the one." Kazama quickly took out the book he had just borrowed.
Looking at the book in his hand, Ōhara Sūjō asked uncertainly, "Huh? Have I ever written a book like this?"
"Huh?" Kazama was taken aback.
Nana looked at her father helplessly: "Please, this is something you wrote before."
"Oh, I see. Oh, right, we'll use the content from this book for this serialization." Ohara Shiro's eyes suddenly lit up as he picked up the book excitedly.
"Of course not! I have to go back to the company for a meeting now. I'll leave the manuscript to you." With that, the editor turned and left. Watching him leave, Ohara Shiro looked resentful, utterly bewildered!
"Ah~ I'm so hungry." Shin-chan lay on the ground, looking exhausted.
"It's almost noon, I'll cook something to eat." With that, Nanako turned and walked outside. "What's available in the fridge?"
"Wow~ Nana-chan's lovingly made bento box~" Shin-chan excitedly followed after her.
Kazama was taken aback. He looked at Mingxu, who was reading a book in the room, and then at Ohara Shiro, who was writing at his desk. He suddenly felt nervous: What should I do?
“Young man,” said Ohara Shiro, looking at Kazama who was standing there in a daze.
Kazama tensed up and quickly replied, "Yes."
“Because I have to work, you can just sit over there or read a book like him,” said Ohara Shiro, pointing to Akira who was reading a book nearby.
“Okay!” Kazama nodded immediately, overjoyed: Ah, I can see what a novelist does when he writes up close.
"If you're not going to read, go eat some senbei over there," Ohara Shiro said casually to Kazama.
"Okay, I'm starting." Kazama said, picking up a senbei and eating it, but the noise successfully disturbed Ohara Shiro.
"It's so noisy, it's affecting my thinking!" Ohara Shiro said, glaring at Kazama.
"Huh? Didn't you just tell me to eat?" Kazama suddenly looked aggrieved.
Mingxu looked up at Kazama and pulled him over: "Just keep quiet. If you make a sound now, you'll be the one in trouble."
“Oh.” Kazama agreed.
"I can't write anymore, I'll take a break." Ohara Shiro said, crossing his arms and looking serious.
Kazama watched him stop, picked up the book, and said, "By the way, the Hanako on the cover looks a bit like Nanako-neechan."
"What did you say?!" Ohara Shiro was stunned and turned to look at Kazama.
Mingxu looked at him speechlessly. Even a doting father wouldn't go this far.
"Ah? I'm sorry!" Kazama quickly apologized, but judging from his confusion, it was probably an unconscious act.
“I remember now, that story was inspired by Nanako’s cooking lessons when she was little!” Ohara Shiro suddenly remembered, and his gaze toward Kazama became much more affectionate: “Young man, you have a good eye for observation.”
"Uh, thank you." Kazama didn't know what to say, so he could only express his gratitude.
"Hey, you two seem to have a good relationship." Shin-chan walked in, raised an eyebrow at the two of them, and said.
"When did you appear?" Kazama asked, puzzled.
"When you guys were talking about the cover just now," Mingxu said casually.
"Oh." Kazama and the others nodded as well.
Nana walked in at that moment, looked at the group, and said, "I was wondering if we should make fried rice for lunch?"
"Oh, it's Nanako's fried rice, not bad." Ohara Shiro nodded without hesitation.
"Can you do it too, Kazama?" She knew Mingxu and Xiaoxin quite well, but Kazama was a different story, so she needed to ask.
“Yes, I really like fried rice.” Kazama nodded in agreement.
"Okay, it's decided then." Nanako was about to leave when she suddenly remembered something: "Oh. Do you prefer your fried rice to be fluffy with each grain separate, or moist?"
Kazama replied without hesitation, "I'll choose the moist one."
"I want them to be distinct, one grain at a time." Ohara Shiro chose something different.
"Oh, I see. What about Xiaoxu and Xiaoxin?" Nana asked the two little ones again.
"I want the kind that bounces around like crazy!" Shin-chan started talking nonsense.
"Looks like it's 2:1. So, kid, what about you?" Ohara Shiro said, looking at Mingxu.
"I'm easy, you can choose whatever you want." Mingxu didn't even look up, continuing to flip through the book.
They immediately started arguing: "Fried rice should be perfectly separated! The best texture and taste are achieved by frying the rice until the moisture is gone! Soggy fried rice is just something amateurs do!" Ohara Shiro had a different idea.
Kazama retorted, "Wait a minute, I know you're a stickler for perfectly separate grains when it comes to fried rice, but my mom's moist fried rice is really delicious!"
"Hmm, kid, how dare you talk back to me, the bestselling author, Ōhara Shojiro!" Ōhara Shojiro looked at Kazama with displeasure.
Kazama immediately retorted, "Whether fried rice is delicious or not has nothing to do with a bestselling author!"
"What!?"
"Then let's choose both and eat curry instead," Shin-chan said casually.
"What kind of nonsense is this, choosing both sides?!" At this point, Ohara Shiro and Kazama shouted together.
Mingxu looked at them speechlessly. Was it really necessary to make such a racket? Oh well, he decided to just read quietly. Sigh, this book is not bad; he could learn a thing or two from the writing style.
"Oh, right, Kazama, you like the moist type, right? Wait for me a moment." Nanako looked at Kazama, then suddenly remembered something and went into the kitchen.
"Oh?" The group was curious and followed. Mingxu looked at the book in his hand, then at the crowd outside, put on a bookmark, and followed.
In the kitchen, after Nanako brought out the fried rice, Ohara Shiro nodded: "This is Nanako's perfectly separated grain fried rice."
"Strange, did it end up being made with each grain distinct?" Kazama said, somewhat disappointed.
"I haven't finished making the fried rice yet. Come on, the fried rice with the thickening sauce is ready! Eating it with the thickening sauce will make the rice more moist, with each grain separate." Nanako said with a smile.
"Oh. Sister Nana has a great idea," Mingxu couldn't help but praise.
"Hehe, I was inspired by the curry in this picture book, and I wanted to let you enjoy two flavors at once." Nana covered her mouth and laughed.
"Wow, as expected of Nana-chan!" Shin-chan exclaimed, acting like a sycophant.
"I'm starting! Mmm~ So delicious~" Kazama exclaimed in delight.
"Yes, the combination is very good. You really are worthy of being called Nana-chan." Mingxu also gave a thumbs up.
"Hmm, moist fried rice is not bad either." Ohara Shiro nodded, then suddenly thought of something: "Hmm, moist fried rice? Longing for my mother, plus a hearty protagonist! Ah! Inspiration strikes!" So, Ohara Shiro forgot about eating and rushed into his study to start writing. Watching the scattered papers, Mingxu helped tidy them up. Kazama, observing this scene, was somewhat surprised; "Such speed... Is this the skill of a novelist?"
Just then, the screenwriter arrived and, seeing this scene, exclaimed with delight, "Teacher, have you already got an idea?!"
"Ah! It's not over yet, it's not over yet, it's not over yet! How about it! How about it! How about it!" Ohara Shiro shouted as he dipped his brush in ink.
The screenwriter took the manuscript from Mingxu and began to read: "The male protagonist, Da Guangda, is a generous manager of a Chinese restaurant. His rival, Pilaf Jiro from a Western restaurant, disguised himself and infiltrated the restaurant, replacing the wet fried rice made by Da Guangda's mother with mixed rice in front of the customers, and made them eat it?" Looking at this content, the screenwriter was somewhat bewildered.
Continue reading: "Then, in order to avenge his mother, the huge iron pot burst into flames. Hmm, what an exciting development! Teacher, please write the next paragraph!"
"Shut up, don't bother me!"
"Is this the world of novelists? I really can't keep up..." Kazama looked at this scene, feeling somewhat bewildered.
"You'll get used to it." Mingxu patted Kazama on the shoulder. After all, artists all have some issues.
"It's not over yet, it's not over yet!"
"Keep writing like this, teacher!"
"How about it!!!"
