#294 - Chapter 28: The Queen's Road (Part 2)
The old man knelt down with a thud, tearfully pleading, "I beg you, Your Great Majesty. The younger ones may rejoice at the new world you've created, but we are too old to endure such upheaval. We are filled with dread at the unknown life ahead, and I am not alone in this sentiment, as are many of the petitioners outside. Surely, many others beseech you as I do; please, grant our request."
Daenerys was stunned, at a loss for words. She had believed she was liberating slaves, granting them the freedom they craved, yet now she was told they longed for their former lives as slaves. What, then, was the meaning of all her efforts? As she was about to respond…
"Ding-dong~ Ding-dong~! Clang, clang, clang…" A series of increasingly urgent bell tolls rang out, and even within the spacious hall, the commotion and chaos outside were palpable.
The guards' terrified shouts echoed from outside, and if one listened closely, one could discern cries of: "Dragon! A dragon is here! Such a massive dragon!"
Daenerys' heart leaped. Could it be Drogon, that rebellious child, had returned? Without hesitation, she rose and hurried towards the window. Her gaze darted anxiously to the sky, but she only caught a fleeting glimpse of a blurry shadow.
Her mind filled with doubt and worry, Daenerys frowned and turned to the guard beside her, ordering, "Quickly! Find out what has happened." The guard obeyed, turning swiftly to leave. However, just as he reached the door, another guard burst into the room, breathless.
The guard, looking agitated, announced in a loud voice: "Your Majesty, it's a dragon unlike any we've ever seen! It has landed atop the Great Pyramid, and someone is riding it, but it doesn't appear to be attacking. Ser Jorah has led a squad of soldiers to the summit. Your Majesty, please move to a safe location immediately!"
After hearing the guard's report, Daenerys fell into thought. The sudden appearance of a strange, mysterious dragon surprised and perplexed her. However, based on the current situation, it seemed the newcomer harbored no ill intentions. Perhaps… With this thought in mind, Daenerys decided to investigate personally.
Straightening her posture, she said to the guards with a determined look, "Do not panic. I will go and meet this uninvited guest myself. Grey Worm, prepare yourself; we leave at once." With that, Daenerys strode out of the room, followed closely by her loyal guards.
Barristan, filled with concern, protected the Queen, joining her ascent to the Great Pyramid. Along the way, he continued to urge Daenerys to reconsider this utterly absurd idea. As a Kingsguard, his primary duty was to ensure the King's safety.
However, Daenerys had already been driven to distraction by his worries, making it difficult for her to concentrate. She snapped, "Ser Barristan, I do not know how you behaved before kings, but here in Meereen, if you question my orders again, then you may leave!"
As they struggled up the stairs, Daenerys's bloodrider, Aggo, suddenly appeared, descending with a strange expression. Upon seeing her, he immediately reported: "Khaleesi, it is not an enemy, but Khal Jhaqo. However, he comes riding a dragon! A very large dragon!"
Hearing his words, Daenerys's heart stirred, and a flash of excitement appeared in her eyes. For her, Jhaqo's arrival was more appealing than any strange dragon! Without hesitation, she lifted her skirt and sped upwards, her steps light and swift.
Reaching the top of the Great Pyramid, the view suddenly opened up. The space was exceptionally vast, about half the size of a football field. The base where the bronze statue once stood had been removed, leaving only a simple wooden tower. Now, a dozen Unsullied gripped their spears tightly, their faces filled with apprehension, and they didn't even dare point their spears at the behemoth.
The leviathan's massive body was immense, nearly occupying the entire summit. It was over seventy meters long from head to tail, and stood over seven meters tall when upright. Its head was as large as a carriage, and its exposed, sharp teeth were like swords.
Jorah Mormont stared solemnly, his face full of vigilance, at the dragon before him. At the same time, Liu Yuan led Tyrion and Podrick to his side. And Jogo respectfully bowed to him. In Jogo's eyes, Khal Jhaqo was not only a great warrior but also possessed the extraordinary ability to tame dragons, just like Khaleesi.
Daenerys's gaze cut through the crowd, instantly locking onto Liu Yuan's figure. "Jhaqo~!" she cried out excitedly. Then, like a lithe leopard, she pounced on Liu Yuan, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck as if trying to meld him into her own body.
Ignoring the astonished gazes of those around her, Daenerys unhesitatingly offered a passionate and deep kiss. Her lips pressed tightly against Liu Yuan's, their breaths mingling together, forming a fiery aura. At that moment, time seemed to freeze, and the world was reduced to just the two of them.
Jorah stood aside, wearing an expression of utter despair, as if he had lost both parents. He stared wide-eyed at the scene before him, his heart filled with unspeakable pain and jealousy. Daario, on the other hand, was more direct; his hand unconsciously reached for the hilt of his sword, his eyes flashing with angry flames, as if ready to draw his sword at any moment.
Tyrion, witnessing all of this, had a look of admiration and curiosity in his eyes. He couldn't help but exclaim, "The Queen is truly irresistible!" Then, his gaze involuntarily shifted to the kissing couple, and he mused to himself, "No wonder he's my brother; he's just that awesome!"
Just then, Barristan also noticed the situation. As a Kingsguard who had served the royal family for decades, he naturally recognized Tyrion, and had even fought alongside Liu Yuan on the battlefield. He had also heard many tales of Liu Yuan's heroic deeds from Jorah, but he never imagined that his first encounter with this legendary figure would be in such a shocking scene. Especially that enormous dragon, which completely overturned Barristan's understanding.
After a long while, the two finally parted their lips. Daenerys's face showed no trace of shyness or embarrassment, but rather was filled with a satisfied and happy smile. At that moment, her clear, autumn-water-like eyes finally fell on Leviathan, and she exclaimed with genuine amazement, "Wow! Is this your dragon? It's so huge!"
