Years turn into wind

Chapter 148 The Storm Has Begun

Chapter 148 The Storm Has Begun

As the night deepened, the cold moonlight shone into the courtyard, which was so quiet that it seemed isolated from the world. Cheng Yuwei still refused to let go of Ling Xiaotian's hand, her eyes filled with unconcealed worry and fear.

"Xiaotian, you are seriously injured. Let me see you." She urged in a low voice, pulled him to sit down, and hurriedly took out bandages and medicine from the bag she carried with her.

Ling Xiaotian raised a faint smile at the corner of his mouth: "This little injury is not a big deal. But you, why don't you rest so late? What if you get too tired?"

"Stop talking nonsense, I'm a doctor, you have to listen to me now." Cheng Yuwei interrupted him in a slightly harsh tone, took off his coat, and carefully examined his wound.

There was a deep wound on his shoulder caused by the fragments, and blood was oozing out, but he sat there without caring, watching her busy appearance with a hint of doting in his eyes.

"You care about me so much, can't you live without me?" Ling Xiaotian teased in a low voice, with a hint of teasing in his tone.

Cheng Yuwei looked up and glared at him: "It's already this late, and you're still kidding! Do you think I really want to take care of you? I'm just afraid that if you die, no one will protect me from those dangers."

Though her words were cold and hard, her hands were unusually gentle. She carefully cleaned the wound, fearing to hurt him. Ling Xiaotian chuckled softly and leaned forward slightly, letting her handle it.

"Yuwei." His voice was a little lower, with a hint of tenderness.

Cheng Yuwei paused, without looking up, and just whispered, "What's wrong?"

Ling Xiaotian gently held her hand, his voice warm and firm: "I said I would protect you and would not let anyone hurt you. This is not just a promise, but my mission."

Cheng Yuwei's heart trembled slightly, but she didn't respond, continuing to bandage the wound intently. Ling Xiaotian looked at her focused expression, his eyes growing darker. He suddenly reached out and pinched the tip of her nose, pretending to be casual and saying, "Hey, am I so brave that you can't bear to scold me?"

"Ling Xiaotian!" Cheng Yuwei was a little annoyed by his actions, but she could do nothing about it. "If you say such indecent things again, I will let your wound get infected!"

"Okay, okay, I won't say anything more. I'll listen to you." Ling Xiaotian smiled heartily and closed his mouth cooperatively, but he still stared at her intently, with love in his eyes that was difficult to conceal.

The next morning

Although Ling Xiaotian's injuries were not serious, he still needed to rest. Cheng Yuwei was relieved only after she personally watched him drink the prepared medicine.

"Xiaotian, what are your plans next? What happened yesterday didn't seem like a simple raid, but more like a premeditated action." Cheng Yuwei asked thoughtfully while cleaning up the medicine bowls.

Ling Xiaotian nodded, a stern look on his face. "Although Gu Chengwen is dead, there's clearly a larger force manipulating him. This raid is just the beginning; there may be even greater crises to come."

Cheng Yuwei pursed her lips, a wave of worry welling up in her heart: "Then what should we do? If the other party is targeting you, won't they continue to harass you?"

Ling Xiaotian pondered for a moment, then revealed a determined smile: "Since they dare to come, I have a way to make them pay the price. But don't worry, just leave these matters to me, you just need to take care of yourself."

Cheng Yuwei frowned slightly, obviously not satisfied with his answer: "You are always like this, blocking all dangers on yourself. Aren't you afraid that one day..."

"I'm afraid." Ling Xiaotian looked directly at her, his tone extremely serious, "But I'm more afraid that something might happen to you. So, no matter how dangerous it is, I will protect you."

Cheng Yuwei stared at him blankly, feeling both sad and touched. They stared at each other for a moment, and she finally sighed, "Okay, now that you've said that, I have nothing to say. But one thing is for sure, no matter what happens, I won't leave you alone."

Ling Xiaotian smiled and gently took her hand: "Just your words are enough."

Undercurrent

Just as Ling Xiaotian and Cheng Yuwei were enjoying a brief moment of peace, on the other side, a conspiracy against Ling Xiaotian was quietly unfolding.

In a dimly lit backroom, a middle-aged man in a black suit sat at a table with a cold gaze. Before him was a detailed report on Ling Xiaotian, including a photo of Cheng Yuwei.

"She is Ling Xiaotian's weak spot." The man sneered, his eyes full of calculation. "Since we can't defeat him head-on, let's start with her."

A dark figure stepped out from the darkness and asked respectfully, "Sir, what are you going to do?"

The man slowly stood up and said in a cold voice, "Keep a close eye on their movements. When the opportunity arises... let him know how painful it is to lose the one you love."

The air is filled with murderous intent, and a greater crisis is quietly approaching.
