Chapter 337: The Weaver of the Fate [VI]
"Alden... is that you?"
Amyra asked, her voice filled with desperation.
"Please tell me... it’s you."
But the voice that came from the other side was the last thing either Nyx or Amyra expected to hear.
"Hey... hey, besties."
A soft sly voice echoed from the shadow.
"The situation inside is really bad, and Alden is about to be sacrificed by Jeremy... and I just so happened to overhear that you need a source to enter and rescue him. So how about I provide you with one, and in return... you save me along with Alden?"
She didn’t bother beating around the bush, already aware of the personalities of both women she was dealing with.
"Wouldn’t you do that for poor old me?"
Nyx looked at Amyra without saying a word, and the two silently nodded at each other. They both knew Seles was the last person they wanted to trust but at the moment, they had no other choice.
"Weren’t you fighting Alden just a few moments ago? And how can we trust that this isn’t another trap?"
Nyx asked cautiously.
She wasn’t afraid even if it truly was a trap because once she entered, everything would be decided anyway.
She had told Amyra that she planned to teleport Alden out but her true intentions were very different. The moment she got inside, she intended to suppress Jeremy using the bloodline suppression she held over him.
And then...
She planned to teleport far away with Jeremy.
He was a danger and she had no intention of allowing him to remain near her friend but so was she. In fact, she was an even greater danger to them.
So she planned to disappear as well, planning to lure her father and his army somewhere far away from this world using the Fragment of Ananke’s thread.
But she had no intention of telling Amyra any of this.
Meanwhile, Seles chuckled softly.
"Yes, I was indeed fighting him and honestly, I still hate him just as much but I also don’t want to die, and that’s more than enough motivation for me to help you. So hurry and do what you must."
Nyx nodded.
"Alright. I will be going soon, Amyra and you should prepare yourself for whatever comes afterwards." She gave Amyra one last smile before stepping onto Seles’s shadow.
Without waiting for a response, she closed her eyes.
"Whatever happens, Seles, don’t let this path vanish for the next five minutes. If it disappears, I won’t be able to enter."
With those words, she activated her Supreme Ability to its fullest extent for the first time in this world as the very world around her quaked under the sheer pressure before she vanished.
When she opened her eyes again, she found herself in a completely different world, one distorted with countless colours and mana so dense it could suffocate even the strongest of beings.
This was the World of Mana or as most people called it, the Heart of the World. The heart of Eryndor was just as vast as many others she had seen before but something about it felt strange...
Far away, she could see something pulsating within the endless sea of mana but she ignored it immediately. Her time here was limited and if she wasted it on unnecessary distractions, she could die from mana overstimulation.
So instead, she focused on the feeling of Seles’s shadow that she had memorised as the countless magical pathways revealed themselves before her.
No matter the type of magic, every spell had to pass through the Heart of the World to manifest and Nyx was using that very principle to teleport herself to the source of the spell. She needed to find the path created by Seles among the countless others as quickly as possible.
She could have tried using this method on the barrier itself but the barrier wasn’t magic in the conventional sense, and there was no way to know where it might send her if she attempted it.
So compared to that, this felt far too easy.
With that thought, she began searching for Seles’s spell among the countless magical pathways flowing through that area.

Meanwhile, back inside the barrier, Seles’s expression turned grim as she could no longer sense Nyx anywhere. She didn’t want to trust those hypocritical bitches but they were her only chance at survival.
But then, her thoughts drifted elsewhere.
Even if I survive... what would be the point?
She had tried to kill the Empire’s prince. Even if she somehow survived this, there was no way she would ever be forgiven.
Her mind wandered back to her past.
Since childhood, everyone had praised her. Everyone called her perfect. They admired her, placed her on a pedestal, expected greatness from her and to meet those expectations, she worked relentlessly. She used the people she could use and she killed the people she couldn’t.
But in the end...
She had failed herself despite all those efforts to become perfect.
Her gaze shifted toward Alden, still bound at the centre of the barrier, as a quote she had once read resurfaced in her mind.
A failure can remain a failure and nobody would care, but the moment a perfect person makes even the smallest mistake, the entire world turns against them.
A sigh escaped her lips but she continued maintaining her magic because even if the life waiting for her would become hell...
She still didn’t want to die.
But the world seemed to have other plans entirely as a loud scream suddenly echoed from the centre of the barrier.
"FINALLY DONE!!!"
It was Jeremy.
"Now... we move to the final part."
As those words left his mouth, his gaze landed on Seles. Her body suddenly floated off the ground before being dragged toward him.
The moment she lost contact with the surface beneath her, the shadow she had extended outside the barrier wavered violently, almost flickering out of existence but before Jeremy could notice, she silently activated her special ability, forcing the shadows to remain stable while he remained lost in his own excitement.
Even at what could very well be her final moment... she had no intention of giving up.
Jeremy grabbed her by the neck and held her right in front of Alden’s bound body as an unnatural smile spread across his face.
"Shall we begin now?"
The moment those words left his mouth, he began chanting strange incantations as the ritual circle beneath them started glowing brightly and the very environment started shifting.
