Chapter 381. Tamasya’s Status
Chapter 381. Tamasya’s Status
"We’re soulmates, darling. We can share cultivation," William said with a small smile.
Over the next several minutes, he carefully explained the full scope of the soulmate mark. Rather than rushing through it, he walked Tamasya through every detail he knew. The mark allowed them to share far more than simple cultivation. Talents, affinities, abilities, and many forms of power could all be exchanged between soulmates. It was a bond that connected them at a level deeper than ordinary relationships.
The only exception to the rule of sharing was paths, since those were unique for every soul.
Tamasya listened quietly as he spoke. The more she learned, the more astonished she became. By the time William finished, she remained silent for several moments, trying to process everything she had just heard. The implications were enormous. Even someone as composed as her needed time to digest such information.
The fact that they could revive their partner through each other’s blood was the most amazing ability, in her opinion; she was quite relieved now that she heard about it, not because she had more chances of living, but because she could revive her man, who had a habit of being careless with his own safety.
Now that he had finally revealed the truth about the soulmate mark, William decided there was little point in hiding other powers from her. A thought crossed his mind, and he asked whether she wanted any of his abilities or powers.
At the same time, he made another decision.
Earlier, he would never have considered showing someone his status window. It was one of his greatest secrets. Yet the trust Tamasya had shown him today had changed his view on a relationship. The barriers he had decided to keep no longer felt as necessary when it came to her.
He trusted her. More importantly, she would never betray that trust. After all, she was his soulmate now.
With that thought in mind, he instructed Orion to display his status window.
Tamasya was a bit startled at the start, but then calmed down immediately, and her eyes moved across the information floating before her. She remained completely still while reading through it. Several seconds passed before she finally spoke.
"So you have paths too?"
William nodded.
"What do you know about them?" he asked.
Tamasya shook her head.
"Not much. Shadow never explained them properly. The only thing I was told is that a path decides one’s future. Every soul has a unique path, and it functions as an evolutionary sequence."
An evolutionary sequence.
The phrase lingered in William’s mind.
He repeated it internally several times, feeling as though it might be an important clue. However, there was little point in dwelling on it right now since he was on level 9 of the information layer; eventually, these things would be revealed to him as time passed. He pushed the thought aside for later consideration.
His attention returned to Tamasya. She was still studying his status with visible curiosity.
Then another thought occurred to him. Since the system had bound itself to her as well, did that mean she possessed a status window now?
[Yes.]
Orion’s response immediately confirmed his suspicion.
William blinked.
"Oh? Then show me."
[Ding!! asking for soulmate Tamasya’s permission]
William frowned.
"So I need permission?"
[It’s a one-time process.]
A moment later, a new status window appeared before him. Naturally, Tamasya had not refused the request.

"Tenebris..."
The name immediately caught William’s attention.
A look of surprise crossed his face as he stared at her full name.
He had never heard of the Tenebris clan before. Not in the novel, and not in this world. The absence of any mention suggested only one possibility. If the clan had once existed, it had likely disappeared long before the events he knew.
He considered asking about it, but quickly abandoned the idea. Some conversations were better saved for another time.
Apart from that, her physique and collection of abilities also stood out to him. Yet after seeing them, her overwhelming strength, with which she had suppressed Alister, even being one realm lower, suddenly made perfect sense.
The status window explained a great deal.
When he finally looked up from the screen, he noticed Tamasya observing him from the corner of her eye.
"So you have dragon blood too?" she asked. "Did you consume some kind of dragon essence?"
William nodded.
"I thought that part would surprise you."
Tamasya merely shrugged.
"I’ve seen people do similar things before. Some individuals consume the essences of higher races and gradually alter their own bloodlines. Their genes become influenced by the race whose essence they consumed."
Her expression became slightly more serious.
"It’s extremely dangerous, though. The greater the gap between the individual and the source of the bloodline, the greater the risk. Many people die before the process is complete."
Her gaze softened slightly.
"Even with your adaptation talent, you should still be careful." As she spoke, she reached forward and gently squeezed his cheek.
William smiled through his squeezed face.
"Really?"
He tilted his head.
"Do you know someone who has done something like that?"
For a moment, Tamasya looked ready to answer.
Then suddenly she stopped. The change was subtle but unmistakable.
A trace of heaviness appeared in her eyes. Her gaze lowered toward the ground before she slowly shook her head.
"No," she said quietly. "At least... no one I knew is still alive."
"Oh."
William immediately sensed there was more to the story.
She was hiding something.
However, he had no intention of forcing the issue. If she wanted to tell him, she would do so when she was ready. Until then, he would respect her silence.
Rather than pressing further, he shifted the conversation elsewhere.
"What about people who are born as mixed-bloods?" he asked. "Are they usually stronger than normal races?"
Tamasya thought about it for a few moments.
"It depends on many factors."
She folded her arms while organizing her thoughts.
"Mixed-bloods can be incredibly powerful. They can also end up weaker than either parent race. The results of crossbreeding are notoriously unpredictable."
A thoughtful look appeared on her face.
"Personally, I’ve always believed there is a reason most races discourage it. If hybrid offspring were consistently superior, those restrictions wouldn’t exist in all the races, or maybe I am just filling the gaps in my knowledge with some misguided reasons."
William raised an eyebrow. Then a mischievous smile appeared on his face.
"It sounds like you know quite a lot about mating."
His grin widened.
"I look forward to your lessons on that subject, Master."
Tamasya immediately punched him lightly in the chest.
The blow carried no real force, but her expression was full of irritation.
"Pervert." She narrowed her eyes at him.
"You always manage to twist conversations into something dirty."
William laughed. "I don’t think it would be dirty if it were with you."
His words left a faint blush across her cheeks, and she immediately looked away.
"Just wait a year..." Her voice was so soft that it was nearly a whisper.
She clearly had no intention of meeting his eyes after saying that.
Naturally, William found her reaction adorable.
The conversation soon devolved into several more rounds of playful flirting. Eventually, once both of them had calmed down, William returned to the matter that had originally started all of this.
"So," he said, looking at her with a smile, "have you decided? Do you want to share any of my talents or powers?"
