Chapter 467: Driving the tiger away from the mountain
Chapter 467: Driving the tiger away from the mountain
The lights on the outskirts of Chiya City were as small as beans, swaying in the wind.
That was the direction in which Andrei led his army.
According to the secret report sent back by the spies, the eastern leader Wumuhan led only 300 light cavalry to attack at night, but set an ambush in a broken valley, and fired iron arrows at once, like a rainstorm hitting rotten grass.
Andre was hit by three arrows in the abdomen. The deepest one penetrated his armor and pierced into his liver lobe, causing the wound to fester at the fastest speed.
He saved the Nineteenth Princess, but was captured by Wumuhan.
Wumuhan did not kill him, but ordered his men to tie him to a wooden stake, strip off half of his royal robe, and let him watch with his own eyes as the eastern Tiele flag was raised on the corner tower on the east side of Chiya City. Then he cut the ropes and threw him back into the moat.
"He came back alive, but only half dead," Gong Yu said. "Now, no doctor in the city dares to touch his wound, fearing that he might be implicated. They say the poison entered his bloodstream from the arrowhead and has already spread to his heart."
Su Rou's finger bones creaked. "Isn't the old woman by his side? The old woman in our family can cure all diseases."
The cloak flutters.
Gong Yu said, "It's still unclear what the situation is over there."
If the poisonous woman follows Andre, then there won't be any big problem.
She and Gong Yu couldn't get to Andre now.
The hem of her skirt was like a dark cloud, pulled askew by the wind.
The horse's hooves crushed the thin frost and galloped out of the side city gate.
The wind got stronger, and the swirling sand hit my face like tiny knives.
Su Rou bent down and buried her face in the horse's mane, leaving only one dark eye exposed.
She counted silently in her mind: one, two, three... one hundred steps, two hundred steps.
When it reached the 700th step, Wuzhui suddenly let out a long neigh and raised its front hooves high.
Su Rou was almost thrown off. She pulled the reins hard, but when she looked up, she saw a lonely figure standing on the sand dune in the distance.
The man was wearing a black sable cloak, his back to the moonlight, a sword hanging from his waist, and a dark red agate embedded in the scabbard, shining in the night like a drop of blood that was about to fall.
Wumuhan's scream startled the wind. The man slowly turned around, and when his cloak flipped up, Su Rou saw half of his face clearly.
His jawline was sharp, his lips were pale due to the cold, but a faint smile appeared in his eyes.
Gong Yu and she were riding two horses, and countless black shadows appeared densely on the sand dunes and surrounded them in an instant.
"I expected you to come here. Why didn't you follow the main force when you left the city? General, Su Rou." Wumuhan said in a loud voice.
Su Rou had never expected that he would block them here.
A way to lure the tiger away from the mountain!
But he is really bold!
How dare you come to her.
The desert wind blew, rolling up the new snow and raising a layer of fog, gently covering all the past and future, as if there had never been sorrow and parting.
Su Rou raised her hand to wipe the blood off her face and smiled brightly, "Oh, you are Wumuhan? It's the first time I see you. You are weaker than I thought."
There are not many people left after being killed by her and Gong Yu.
How can it not be weak?
Before she finished her words, she felt the ground tremble slightly, as if a giant beast was turning over from the ground.
The next moment, a loud rumbling sound was heard from the upper reaches of the Black Water River - a mountain flood broke out.
Wumuhan's face changed suddenly.
He calculated the weather accurately, but forgot that there was a heavy rain in the upper reaches of the desert ten days ago, and tonight was the time when the sluice gate was at its lowest.
The turbid waves rushed down the river and instantly destroyed the barracks on the east bank.
The Hu cavalry were thrown into chaos, and their horses neighed as they were sucked into the whirlpool.
Su Rou took the opportunity to lead her troops to break out, but just after they had rushed out half a mile, her mount was tripped by an undercurrent and she was thrown into the icy river.
The torrent was like thousands of hands, dragging her into the abyss.
Grandma has legs!
She couldn’t swim in her previous life, and she still hasn’t learned it in this life!!
With one last glance, she saw Gong Yu rushing towards her, and Andre leaping down from the opposite bank, his black armor clanging against the waves.
The two men reached out, but only managed to grab a piece of her torn cloak.
When Su Rou woke up again, she was in a damp cave.
The bonfire crackled, reflecting half of Andre's profile. There were still water droplets on his eyelashes. He was sitting beside the fire wearing only pants and his upper body naked, drying the clothes of both people.
"Is Wumuhan dead?" She said in a hoarse voice and sat up from the stone slab.
"I don't know." Andre answered in a low voice, reaching out to help her, but stopped in mid-air.
"But don't worry. I'll send Princess Nineteen back first, and the rest of the people will go look for Wumuhan who was washed away." Su Rou saw that his right wrist was hastily wrapped with a cloth strip, and blood was oozing out, the color was as dark as ink.
Su Rou lowered his eyes, and saw that the wound on his left arm had been carefully cleaned and applied with chewed mountain herbs, with the veins of the leaves still on his fingertips.
Andre was really good to her...
She suddenly reached out, and her fingertips touched the pulse on his wrist, as light as a butterfly landing.
"Andrei," she called his name, "are you crazy? Wumuhan is waiting for you to fall into his trap. If you die, the whole desert will fall into the hands of the East."
The man raised his eyes, and flames danced in his pupils, like two stars that refused to go out.
"I don't want anything to happen to you." He said slowly, "I'm glad you're okay..."
Su Rou felt a lump in her throat and was unable to speak.
After a while, she laughed softly, her fingertips slid down along his wrist bone, and clasped his five fingers.
Outside the cave, the sound of rain gradually subsided.
Suddenly, in the distance, there was the sound of armor colliding, like a string of ice particles rolling across the porcelain surface.
Andre looked up instantly, extinguished the bonfire with his fingertips, and protected Su Rou behind him.
"They're here." He whispered, his right hand already touching the hilt of the sword.
Su Rou held his shoulder and shook her head, "Wumuhan wants your position. I'm leaving, you go."
Andre turned his head, his eyes bloodshot, like a fully drawn bow.
"Su Rou," he said word by word, "I won't leave you alone."
Before he finished speaking, Wumuhan's voice could be heard from outside the cave. It was smiling, but it was cold enough to penetrate the bones. "You two, it's cold on a rainy night. Why don't you come out?"
Su Rou and Andre looked at each other.
Outside the cave, Wumuhan stood with his hands behind his back, torches lined up in a long dragon behind him, making his eyebrows and eyes look picturesque but without any warmth.
"Su Rou," he said gently, "You burned my food and drowned my army. I should have torn you into pieces. But this king values talent and beauty."
He raised his hand and pointed the scimitar at Gong Yu: "Come here, I will spare his life."
Su Rou laughed out loud, her voice clear and crisp, yet it carried a chilling chill in the rainy night. "I hate threats the most in my life. I won't go over. Just kill him."
She waved her hand, turned around and was about to go into the cave.
