Chapter 164 Original Desire
Chapter 164 Original Desire
Green stood up; he had witnessed the entire fight between the two.
The jungle was eerily quiet; no one appeared, and the scrutinizing gazes vanished. Madwood gave a glance to the shadowy figures clad in dark gray fur, and they disappeared into the night, chasing after the usurper's followers.
"...Let's go."
The conflict just now seemed to be nothing more than a minor incident. After the battle, Madwood continued on its way with Green.
They walked through a dense forest for almost half the night, and over the back of a hill came to a relatively secluded manor.
There, a mysterious figure awaited them. Green didn't know who this mysterious figure was, nor what they wanted from him.
Only when you get closer do you realize that there are only unnamed tombstones inside the low fence made of wooden sticks.
Under the moonlight, only the wooden house was lit by a dim candlelight. Madwood knocked rhythmically on the wooden door, once, twice, and three times frequently. As a girl about the same age as Green opened the door a crack, Madwood led Green inside.
Upon entering the wooden house, a musty smell of old wood filled the air. The interior was dimly lit by candlelight, barely illuminating the surroundings. The square bookshelves and heavy books were well-maintained by the owner.
The girl, holding a candlestick, silently led them into the living room and gestured for them to sit down.
However, Madwood did not seem to intend to stay here for long.
"...The child that man brought was him."
“I see…” The person sitting in the shadows let out a soft sigh.
Only then did Green notice that there was another person in the darkness.
After Madwood and the girl bowed slightly to the man, they stood aside.
“Welcome, Green,” the man in the shadows said, his voice deep and magnetic, characteristic of middle-aged men. “I am Hohenheim. You must have heard of me before.”
Green was startled. Of course he had heard of this name before. Hohenheim was the Juda spy mentioned in the intelligence report, who had been infiltrating Grant for seven years.
But... he didn't expect that the so-called Hohenheim was actually bald...
“Kardi has already told me about the task assigned to you,” Hohenheim continued. “Given your performance in prison, I believe you are capable of handling this special mission.”
Green hesitated for a moment. He didn't know what Hohenheim meant by "performance," but he could see the fervor and expectation in Hohenheim's bulging goldfish eyes.
...I have a bad feeling about this.
“I want you to infiltrate the ‘Dragon’s Nest’ and gather intelligence for us.” Hohenheim’s gaze fell on Green, as if scrutinizing him.
Green's heart tightened. The "Dragon's Nest" was an extremely dangerous place, not only with powerful warriors but also with tight defenses.
But he had no choice but to agree, because he knew that if he did, the consequences could be even more severe.
"I will do my best to complete the mission," Green gritted his teeth and agreed.
Hohenheim nodded in satisfaction. "Very good. Kadi will tell you the specific details of the operation later. For now, you can prepare here. Ellen will take you to a place to rest."
"Remember, this mission is of utmost importance. Success is the only option; failure is not an option." Hohenheim opened the underground chamber hidden behind the bookshelf, which was brightly lit below.
It seemed they had no intention of removing their shackles. Green slowly stood up, his mind heavy with worry, and followed the girl named Elaine into the basement.
The basement contained many small guest rooms with straw-matted beds; aside from being damp and smelling earthy, they seemed like places where one could get a decent night's sleep. Further into the basement, there appeared to be prisons and torture chambers, with the faint smell of rust lingering in the air.
“Your room is right here.” The girl stopped in front of a guest room and lit a torch on the outside wall.
Green lay on the simple bed, pondering his future plans. This mission was not easy, but he had no other choice.
Just then, Ellen, who had just left, came back in and handed him some food and water.
"Get some rest, tomorrow will be tough." Her voice was cold and devoid of any emotion.
Green took the food and ate it silently. He noticed that Eileen was watching him intently, her eyes revealing a complex emotion.
"Why are you helping me?" Green suddenly asked.
Eileen paused for a moment, then resumed her indifferent demeanor.
“I was just following orders.” With that, she turned and left the room, leaving Green alone in the darkness to think things through.
Despite the possibility of facing a life-or-death situation, he had to seize that glimmer of hope and face it bravely! Filled with anxiety about the future, he fell into a deep sleep.
............
A world so pure and boundless, Green stared blankly at this space.
"...Where have I ended up again?"
Green couldn't help but wonder if he was dreaming again.
[...the prophesied son, Grin Belial Pendragon]
A familiar voice lingered in my ears. Was it Him again? But... this time, His voice was ethereal.
The words left behind linger in my mind.
"...Restrain your primal desires, or they will surely become your trap."
Green instinctively reached out his hands, trying to grasp something, but all he saw seemed to be nothingness. He felt an invisible force pulling him, as if to take him to some unknown place.
Guided by that power, a mysterious door gradually appeared before Green's eyes. The door was tightly closed and emitted a faint light.
Green hesitated for a moment, but ultimately reached out towards the door. As his hand touched the door, a powerful energy surged into his body, causing him to involuntarily close his eyes.
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in an ancient library. The bookshelves were filled with all kinds of precious books, and on the table in the center sat a thick ancient book.
Green approached the ancient book, gently turning the pages. It contained the secrets of primal desires and methods to control them.
Green's eyes were fixed on the ancient book, his gaze wandering between the words, his heart filled with shock and curiosity. The words in the book seemed to have a life of their own, leaping and dancing before his eyes, telling him ancient secrets.
"Restrain your primal desires..." Green murmured, his voice echoing throughout the library, as if he were conversing with the words.
He began reading the contents of ancient books, each page bringing him new insights. The book described an ancient ritual through which he could control his desires and avoid being consumed by the madness they brought.
As Greene read, the atmosphere in the library began to change. The surrounding bookshelves began to rotate, and the books turned automatically, as if demonstrating to Greene the danger of being unable to control his primal desires.
