Chapter 271 Eat, eat, there's still so much more!
Gan Mei looked at the letter of complaint on the table, swallowed hard, and asked, trying to appear calm, "Brother, what is this?"
Zhuang Chaoying laughed. "You and your son should know very well what this is."
Seeing that things were going badly, Zhuang's father quickly pointed at Zhuang Chaoying. "Eldest son, don't cause trouble during the New Year. What are you doing?"
At this moment, Zhuang's mother and Ganmei's wife also rushed over from the kitchen.
The already small room was suddenly filled with people, making it feel even more cramped.
"Chaoying, what's wrong? Why are you arguing again?" Mrs. Zhuang asked anxiously.
The beautiful wife also tried to smooth things over.
"Yes, brother, what's wrong with chasing after America? You're a magnanimous person, don't take it to heart."
Zhuang Chaoying smiled and shook her head. "This is a letter of complaint, accusing me, a public institution employee, of seeking personal gain and earning extra money outside. The evidence is photos of the electric kettle trade fair on Guanqian Street."
Ganmei was indeed a little scared just now, but after calming down and thinking about it, what solid evidence could his older brother have to prove that they wrote it?
The letter was unsigned, so as long as I denied it, what could my older brother do to me?
Thinking of this, he straightened his back and secretly winked at his son, signaling him not to panic and not to admit it.
Zhuang Ganmei defended himself righteously, but his eyes darted away, unable to meet Zhuang Chaoying's gaze. "Brother, aren't you framing me? I would never do such a thing. We're family, after all."
Tu Nan stood next to Zhuang Chaoying, his fists clenched tightly. He really hadn't expected that his uncle, who was also a member of the Zhuang family, could be so heartless as to report his own brother. He was now very grateful that his father had known the true colors of his grandparents and uncle when he was very young. The more he thought about it, the angrier he became, and he took a step forward, blocking Zhuang Chaoying's path.
Zhuang Chaoying's lips curled up slightly, revealing a playful smile. She watched him quietly, not in a hurry to expose him.
Seeing his son standing in front of him, he pulled Tu Nan aside. "Tu Nan, I can handle your dad. You just take care of your mom and your sister."
Seeing this, Xiaoting couldn't help but chime in. "Uncle, my dad didn't say it was you, what are you talking about?"
Pengfei couldn't help but snort. "Uncle has just confessed without being asked."
Upon hearing this, Zhuang Ganmei became furious and pointed her finger at Pengfei's nose, shouting loudly.
"Pengfei, what are you saying? I'm your uncle, don't talk nonsense."
Mr. Zhuang picked up the letter of complaint and glanced at it quickly. His face turned ashen instantly. He knew in his heart that it was clearly Zhen Dong's handwriting!
His hands trembled slightly, and he inwardly groaned, yet he didn't want to escalate the situation.
"Chao Ying, these things are hard to explain. You don't even know who wrote it. You're fine with nothing to do anyway, so let's just forget about it. Okay, everyone sit down and watch TV. Dinner will be ready in a bit."
Upon hearing this, Huang Ling could no longer hold back. She stepped forward and snatched the letter of complaint from Zhuang's father.
“Dad, you make it sound so easy. This is a false accusation. Chaoying has never received a single penny from the factory. If what’s in the whistleblower’s letter is true, Chaoying wouldn’t be here now; she’d be in jail. You make it sound so easy. This person just doesn’t want our family to have a good life.”
Her eyes were slightly red, and her voice trembled with anger. "Ganmei, when we were little, Chaoying would rather go hungry than let you go hungry. The money for your wedding came from Chaoying's salary. When Chaoying and I got married, all Mom bought us was a thermos and a washbasin. How can you be so heartless?"
Zhuang Ganmei, however, stiffened her neck and straightened her back.
"Since my older brother is so good to me, why can't he just watch our family suffer like before?" His voice was filled with resentment and jealousy. All the envy and jealousy he had felt for his older brother's life over the years had finally erupted at this moment.
Huang Ling was furious at this shameless womanizer, and her chest heaved violently.
“We are not your parents and have no obligation to help you. You have no conscience at all to say such a thing, Ganmei.”
Zhuang Chaoying reached out and gently patted A-Ling's shoulder, softly comforting her.
"It's not worth it for Ah Ling to get angry with them."
Then, he looked at Zhuang's father and Ganmei, his tone calm.
“Dad, come on, Zhendong, it’s okay if you don’t admit it. I can find a friend in the criminal investigation department of the police station. They have experts who specialize in handwriting analysis. I happen to have Zhendong’s notebook here, so the truth can come out. If it’s not Zhendong’s handwriting, then I won’t frame him.”
Upon hearing this, Zhuang's father's expression changed drastically. Once the handwriting was examined, the truth could no longer be concealed.
In his panic, he snatched the letter of complaint from Huang Ling's hand and began to tear it apart frantically. Gan Mei also realized what was happening and quickly joined him in tearing the letter. Then, the two of them actually stuffed the torn pieces of paper into their mouths.
Tu Nan was getting anxious. "Dad, the whistleblower letter!"
Zhuang Chaoying suddenly laughed, and only spoke slowly after they had finished eating.
"Eat up, eat up! I made lots of copies, there's plenty to go around!"
Zhuang's father choked on the paper, his face turning red. He pounded his chest, trying to spit it out.
Seeing this, Zhuang's mother quickly handed him a cup of tea. He took the cup and drank a large cup in one gulp before he could barely swallow it.
Zhuang's father came to his senses and pointed at his eldest son.
“Zhuang Chaoying, your family is well-off, so why can’t you help your younger brother’s family? You can’t be so selfish. I can’t stand it either. Can’t you act like an older brother?” He shifted the blame onto Zhuang Chaoying to absolve himself and his youngest son.
Zhuang Chaoying shook her head, a smile appearing on her face. She then took out another letter of complaint from her pocket and waved it in front of them.
"This is a whistleblower letter." Then, he looked at Pengfei.
Pengfei understood immediately and took Zhendong's exercise book out of his pocket and handed it over. "Uncle, here you go."
Zhuang Chaoying took the exercise book. "This is Zhendong's notebook. When we get to the police station, we'll be able to find out whose handwriting it is. If it's not Zhendong, then I, as his uncle, will have to apologize to the child."
When Ganmei's wife saw this situation, she secretly thought to herself that things were not going well. If things got out of hand, neither Zhendong nor Ganmei would have a good outcome.
She was very anxious, so she quickly ran over and grabbed Zhendong, shaking his arm vigorously.
"Quickly apologize to your uncle, you brat, how could you do such a thing?"
"Mom, Dad made me write this. He was afraid that my handwriting would be recognized by my uncle. I was wronged. It has nothing to do with me."
Zhendong's voice was trembling with tears as he shifted all the blame onto his father. Right now, all he wanted was to get rid of this trouble and secure his future.
Seeing that things were about to escalate, Zhuang's mother quickly stepped in to smooth things over.
"Ganmei, you should apologize to your older brother. Chaoying, thank goodness you're alright."
As she spoke, she gestured to her youngest son with her eyes to quickly admit his mistake.
Gan Mei lowered her head, her face flushing red and then pale. After hesitating for a while, she finally spoke softly.
"Brother, I was wrong."
"Tu Nan, get your mom a chair. Dad's fine. We're here today to solve this problem." Zhuang Chaoying gently patted A Ling's shoulder, signaling her not to get too excited.
Upon hearing this, Zhuang's mother quickly agreed.
"Chao Ying, you're right to think that way. You're brothers, there's no such thing as a grudge that lasts overnight between brothers."
