Chapter 206 The Poor Vampire is the Real Boss 29
After much thought, she could only look up and say, "Amin, there are some things I can't explain, but I advise you to stay away from Lina."
“Okay,” Amin readily agreed.
The speed at which she agreed left Ni Qing somewhat stunned: "Aren't you going to ask me why?"
Amin gave her a puzzled look: "What's there to ask? If His Majesty the Prince gave such an order, would I be allowed to say why?"
“But I’m not him. We’re good friends. Ask me if you want.” Ni Qing felt a little itchy, but something about that sentence just didn’t feel right.
Sure enough, Amin gave her a sly look: "Although you are not His Majesty, if you become the wife of a prince, wouldn't I be lifted up like a chicken and a dog?"
Ni Qing: "..."
"Haha, just kidding." She laughed. "I didn't have much of a relationship with her to begin with. After all, we're not from the same world, so she's not important to me. You must have your reasons for telling me to stay away from her."
Ni Qing: "You're actually a pretty nice person."
After exchanging pleasantries for a while, she got up and slowly went back.
At the beginning of the story, she was the unattainable ideal woman, and Lina was her substitute. The original plot should have been that the male lead imprisoned the female lead during the time she was away, but instead of doing so, he drove Lina away.
Did Brewster notice the striking resemblance between the two women? If she were to do it again, would she be able to steer the plot back on track?
The success rate is low, but it's worth a try.
Perhaps Lina and Amin were caught red-handed trying to get close to each other, so in order to avoid arousing her suspicion, she has started to get close to Ni Qing again in the past few days.
He would visit her room every now and then. Ni Qing gave him face once or twice, but after a while, she started to relax.
"Ni Qing, how did you meet His Highness?"
Lina sat in the chair, elegantly picked up the carved porcelain cup, took a small sip, and noticed that the taste wasn't particularly good. She subconsciously frowned, but then forced herself to calm down.
Ni Qing saw this but didn't expose him. She just smiled casually and said, "When I came here, His Highness was still very young and not yet an adult. Back then, even a servant could bully him. You must have heard something about that back then. I saw you standing with the Prince when you were night hunting?"
Lina gave an awkward smile. She was there, but she remained unmoved. If she had intervened then, she would have been laughed at by the nobility; no one would be willing to publicly defend a male concubine.
But Ni Qing's words stirred a pang of regret within her. If she had helped him back then, would things have turned out differently?
Was Ni Qing saying those words on purpose to provoke her? Lina looked up at the girl suspiciously. The girl's expression was natural, even a little bored, and it was impossible to tell what she was thinking.
Noticing Lina looking at her, the dark-haired girl finally looked up and met her gaze: "What's wrong?"
Lina forced a smile and said, "It's nothing. I didn't pay much attention to the night hunting you mentioned back then, so I don't remember it well."
“It’s alright. There were many vampires and half-vampires hunting at the time, so it’s inevitable that we wouldn’t notice them,” Ni Qing said, “understandingly.”
Lina's complexion improved slightly, and her concerns subsided. However, she had no desire to continue dealing with this half-vampire; all she wanted now was to leave.
"That's all for today, I won't bother you any longer, I'll go now—" The words trailed off.
Ni Qing followed her gaze and looked over.
