Chapter 87 Ambush
Chapter 87 Ambush
Tan Zhengchu leaned against the elevator wall, arms crossed, and glanced at Lao San with an indifferent expression: "I don't feel anything, it's just like any other thing."
The third brother's eyes widened, his face full of disbelief: "Big brother, you're kidding me, right? A marriage proposal is such a big deal, how could you not feel anything? Don't pretend to be calm."
Tan Zhengchu's lips curled up slightly, with a hint of teasing: "I'm not pretending. Unlike you, look at you, so pathetic. It's just a marriage proposal, why are you so nervous?"
The third brother snorted defiantly, "Big brother, it's easy for you to talk when you're not in my shoes. I'm showing you care, don't you understand?"
Tan Zhengchu smiled and shook his head: "Yes, yes, you take it seriously. I think you're just too nervous. Don't mess things up at the crucial moment."
The third brother scratched his head and chuckled, "Boss, I'm just inexperienced, unlike you, a master of romance."
Tan Zhengchu smiled without saying a word as he looked at the third brother.
The third brother frowned, muttering with some annoyance, "Big brother, I feel like we're just different. Look at you, you've always been so composed. I've never had any romantic experience before, and now that I'm going to propose to Ashen, I feel incredibly insecure, like I'm not good enough for her."
The elevator reached the ground floor, and the doors opened with a "ding".
Tan Zhengchu stepped out of the elevator, turned back to look at Lao San, and teased with a smile: "You deserve to be bullied by A Qian. Who told you to be so unreliable before?"
The third brother chuckled and didn't refute, and their friendship grew stronger through their banter.
The third brother followed Tan Zhengchu toward the parking lot, saying as they walked, "Eldest brother, I'll go back to the villa with you. I'll ask your wife for advice on the details of my proposal plan."
Tan Zhengchu rolled his eyes at him: "Go ahead and do whatever you want."
When they reached the car, Tan Zhengchu got in, and Lao San followed him in.
No matter what Tan Zhengchu said, he stayed in the car and refused to get out.
Tan Zhengchu drove his car slowly out of the underground parking garage, with soothing music playing inside.
They hadn't driven far when suddenly, a sharp screech of brakes and gasps of alarm came from ahead.
Tan Zhengchu looked up abruptly and saw a large truck rushing towards them like a runaway prehistoric beast.
The truck's cab resembled a gaping, menacing maw, its massive wheels kicking up clouds of dust; each rotation felt like the approach of death. The truck was moving at incredible speed, its body shaking violently, as if it wanted to crush everything beneath its wheels.
Surrounding vehicles swerved to avoid them, some colliding with each other, creating chaos at the scene.
Tan Zhengchu's expression changed drastically. He slammed on the brakes and shouted, "Third brother, hold on tight!"
The third brother's face turned deathly pale instantly.
He gripped the handle tightly, watching helplessly as the truck drew closer, the shadow of death looming over them.
With a loud bang, the two cars collided heavily, their bodies shaking violently.
Tan Zhengchu felt as if his internal organs had shifted, and his head spun.
Accompanied by the screeching of brakes and the sound of a collision, the car shook violently.
The third brother nearly hit his head on the windshield, and he angrily yelled, "What the hell? Can't you drive?!"
Tan Zhengchu frowned, his expression instantly turning serious.
A strong sense of crisis welled up inside him: "Something's wrong! They're coming for us!"
Before he could finish speaking, Tan Zhengchu keenly sensed a subtle movement around him, a deadly feeling of being watched by a hunter.
Without a second thought, he swiftly reached out and pressed down on the third brother's head with astonishing force, shouting, "Get down! There's a gun!"
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Gunshots rang out without warning, and bullets rained down on their car windows.
The car window instantly developed numerous cracks, like a tattered spider web, teetering on the brink of collapse amidst the hail of bullets.
Each bullet was like a call from the Grim Reaper, whistling past the car body, some even embedding themselves in the seats.
Tan Zhengchu's forehead veins bulged. He pushed again with all his might, shoving the third brother off the seat and shielding him with his own body, thus allowing the third brother to barely escape unscathed.
In an instant, the gunshots were deafening. The car windows could not withstand the pressure and were shattered. The shards flew everywhere like sharp blades, leaving scratches inside the car.
Tan Zhengchu's arm was cut by a shard of metal, and blood seeped out.
But he ignored the pain; he had only one thought in his mind: he had to survive.
He knew perfectly well that the car accident was a carefully planned conspiracy, and that the other party wanted them dead!
Moreover, their methods were so ruthless that they gave them no chance to breathe.
"Get out of the car! Quickly!" Tan Zhengchu shouted, his voice still clearly audible amidst the hail of bullets.
He and his third brother quickly unbuckled their seatbelts and forcefully pushed open the car door.
Just as they jumped out of the car, a loud "BOOM!" rang out, and the car exploded violently.
The force of the explosion was like an apocalyptic tsunami, unleashing a powerful heat wave that distorted the surrounding buildings.
Nearby vehicles were also shaken and tilted, some even overturned.
Traffic came to an instant halt, and the scene was chaotic.
The screams of people and the sirens of vehicles mingled together, as if the end of the world had arrived.
The third brother was thrown to the ground by the force of the explosion; his ears were ringing and his vision was blurry.
He struggled to his feet, ignoring his scrapes and pain, and shouted anxiously, "Boss! Boss! Where are you?"
The air was thick with gunpowder smoke, and the pungent smell filled the nostrils.
He frantically searched for Tan Zhengchu amidst the chaos, his heart filled with anxiety.
Every second of waiting felt like torture; he feared that Tan Zhengchu might meet with misfortune in this sudden attack.
Just as the third brother was getting anxious, the fourth brother, who had received the warning signal, arrived from the street corner with a group of well-trained bodyguards.
The fourth brother looked anxious, with large beads of sweat rolling down his forehead.
He ran while shouting, "Where's the boss? Is he alright?"
When the third brother heard the fourth brother's voice, it was like grasping at a straw.
While blindly firing his gun in the direction the assassin might appear, trying to buy himself and Tan Zhengchu some safety, he shouted hoarsely, "Don't worry, the boss is very skilled, he'll be fine."
The fourth brother, accompanied by his bodyguards, quickly approached the third brother, his eyes filled with anger.
He asked anxiously, "Is the boss really alright? What exactly happened? Who did this?"
The third brother, panting heavily, his eyes bloodshot, said, "I don't know who it is, but they're definitely after us, damn it! They want to kill us!"
At this moment, Tan Zhengchu peeked out from behind a nearby bunker.
His eyes were calm, without the slightest hint of panic.
He took out a small controller from his pocket and began to operate it quickly and precisely with his fingers.
