Chapter 7: Space Opens, Finally a Hot Meal
Chapter 7: Space Opens, Finally a Hot Meal
"Lu Yuan, what's wrong with your system?" After hearing the drone's broadcast, Gu Nanfeng immediately reported the dormitory situation to the university town dormitory administrator. He also saw many people in the group reporting their situations while asking if any dormitory had extra food and water. It seems that government rescue won't be arriving at the university town anytime soon.
"Gu Nanfeng, are you serious? You really believe in something like a system?" Although Pei Sihao wouldn't admit it, he was actually wavering. If Lu Yuan's system was real at this point, even just having soda would be enough for them to survive until they were rescued.
"Of course it's real, but it suddenly disappeared just now, and no matter how much I call the system, it won't respond!" Lu Yuan was a little annoyed. It was right in front of him just a moment ago, and there was so much food inside. Ah! Thinking about the food made him even hungrier!
"Are you sure it's the system and not something else? What you said back then was..."
"Ah! Senior Brother Gu, it's a space, a space!" As soon as Lu Yuan said this, the backpack interface floated in front of his eyes again. "Senior Brother Gu, what I have is a space full of supplies!"
So, under Pei Sihao's surprised expression and Gu Nanfeng's calm gaze, Lu Yuan unexpectedly dropped a three-person portion of KFC fast food. Of course, this time Lu Yuan was very careful, and the food landed steadily on the small coffee table.
"Holy crap, Xiao Yuan, it's still warm." Pei Sihao was shocked as soon as he opened the burger. Last time he was given an expired Coke, and this time it's a still-warm fast food. Is this place really that casual?
"Say those four words separately!" Gu Nanfeng doesn't usually like this kind of fast food, but in these special times, he's not picky about what he can eat. "Xiao Yuan, is it possible that your space doesn't have a flow of time? What goes in looks the same when you take it out."
"Senior Brother Gu, I suspect your extracurricular reading is apocalyptic literature. How come you know more than I do?" Lu Yuan said, showing off his hamburger without any regard for his image, while scrolling through the spatial interface with his eyes. This poor guy wasn't used to this holographic AR method, and he kept getting lost while flipping through the pages.
"So those two bottles of 2000 Maotai liquor you illegally sold were genuine?" PC004261 gaped in disbelief. When they received the arrest mission, the veteran police officer in charge of managing the robot police at the University City Police Station said that the liquor was definitely fake and told them to hurry up and arrest the person to prevent others from being deceived.
"What did you say? I sold two bottles of 2000 Maotai liquor?" As soon as Lu Yuan thought about it, the interface automatically searched and sure enough, the small box representing this liquor lit up, and the number in the lower right corner showed 9997, indicating that two bottles were indeed missing.
“There should still be two cartons of cigarettes left. I saw you take them out that morning.”
Lu Yuan stared at Gu Nanfeng in disbelief. Gu Nanfeng had finished his hamburger and was diligently cleaning up his outer trash, even taking the trash in front of Lu Yuan along with it. Pei Sihao, who was standing next to him, saw this and casually pushed his own trash toward Gu Nanfeng, but Gu Nanfeng ignored him.
"Brother Nanfeng, now that Xiaoyuan is here, you don't care about me anymore," Pei Sihao said, pouting slightly on the sofa.
"Did you treat me to this meal?" Gu Nanfeng threw away the trash in his hand, returned to the living room, and gave Pei Sihao a direct look. The other man then obediently cleaned up the mess himself.
Lu Yuan was a little shocked. It was rare for the people in his dormitory to run into each other. He thought that Gu Nanfeng and Pei Sihao were probably not very familiar with him, just like them. But now it seemed that their relationship might be more than just good.
"What nonsense are you thinking? We've been friends since childhood!" Lu Yuan felt that Gu Nanfeng must have implanted a chip in his brain, otherwise how could he know what he was thinking?
Lu Yuan nodded unconsciously, and three more cups of milk tea fell from his spatial storage. Sure enough, the three cups of milk tea appeared directly on the coffee table as he had expected. Seeing that the cups were still steaming, Pei Sihao came over from the kitchen, grabbed a cup, and took a big gulp. It was indeed icy cold, perfect for this sweltering heat.
"It really is a space for preservation, Xiao Yuan! With you, we can survive until the end of the world!"
"We're only one step away from the end of the world now, aren't we?" Lu Yuan also grabbed a cup of milk tea, sipping it while peeking out at the balcony. Thank goodness for that glance, otherwise everyone in their dorm would have logged off early.
Following Lu Yuan's gaze, Gu Nanfeng noticed someone climbing from the adjacent balcony on the left towards their balcony. Behind them were the mutated zombies from their dormitory. The college student zombies weren't as agile as the mutated soldier zombies in the morning news, but they were still much more agile than the first batch of zombies from a few days ago. He didn't know if it was related to their physical constitution or the rain.
A student from the neighboring school was almost pulled back just as he was about to climb onto their balcony. Pei Sihao mustered up his courage and went over to take a look. "Holy crap, four zombies in one dorm, all neatly arranged!"
"We need to analyze the current situation. Xiao Hao, you need to be serious." Gu Nanfeng walked to the window and pulled Pei Sihao, who was watching the commotion, back to his senses. He glanced at the right-hand neighbor's window, which was closed like theirs, with the curtains drawn. Beyond that was another building. The four zombies on the left had just seen Pei Sihao and were now waving their arms in their direction. Gu Nanfeng could clearly see their exposed skin decaying at an incredible speed.
The next dormitory room had its windows and doors wide open, but there was no one there and no zombies. It seemed that either they hadn't returned when the incident happened, or they had gone to another dormitory. Gu Nanfeng followed the example of the room next to him on the right and drew the curtains, plunging the room into complete darkness. It was seven o'clock in the evening, and the sun had finally set.
