Chapter 19 The Northern Expedition!
Chapter 19 The Northern Expedition!
"We're 0.9 seconds behind Bottas. We can activate Draco's Resonance System (DRS)." Mattia reminded Tangche in the TR.
This was the 9th lap, and Tangche caught up with Bottas just one second ahead of the first DRRS detection line.
Tang Che: "copy".
drs, start!
The first section of the DRSE zone is not a long straight, and the effective full throttle duration is about 4.5 seconds, which can only close the gap by about 0.4 or 0.5 seconds.
At the end of the first DR's zone, Tangche trailed Bottas by 0.4 seconds.
The 0.4-second difference doesn't allow Tangche to launch an attack at Turn 22, but that's okay, there's still the Drs Zone after Turn 24!
The second DRS zone has an effective full throttle duration of 5.5-6 seconds, which is enough to make up for the 0.4-second difference!
Leaving the Dresden zone, was Tanger, with his higher top speed, going to launch an attack at Turn 27? No! He slammed on the brakes!
This was a very smart choice! Because there's still a Dr.S. zone after Turn 27! If we overtake it now, we'll be immediately countered by Bottas's Dr.S. zone as soon as we enter the third Dr.S. zone!
Entering the third DRRS zone, it's time to attack! Tangche activates DRRS! In the blink of an eye, the 0.2-second time difference is erased, closely following Bottas's tail, then he pulls away! Overtakes Bottas! Up to P8!
Bottas was about to retaliate, and he tried to brake late at Turn 1 to steal the inside! But Tontatta anticipated Bottas's attack, and he gently turned the steering wheel, taking control of the center line and blocking Bottas's offensive route!
It's not over yet! Bottas has another chance to launch an attack at Turn 2, Turn 3, and the straight after Turn 3!
But Bottas needs to secure the line!
Is it even possible to snag one? Absolutely not! Every brake from Toncher is more extreme than Bottas's!
Tang Che entered the straight at a higher exit speed and stepped on the gas to gain a 0.4-second lead!
But don't forget that Bottas uses medium tires! Although these yellow tires are slightly worn out, their performance is still better than the white tires used by Tancher.
The two cars have similar straight-line performance, but the difference in tire performance may be the key to turning the tide!
At the end of the straight... the performance advantage of the tires couldn't erase the 0.4-second lead, and Tang Che calmly cut into turn 4!
We've reached another high-speed corner where overtaking is nearly impossible. Even someone as aggressive as Tanget wouldn't launch an attack on this series of corners, and neither would Bottas!
Bottas wisely chose to stay close to Taunter, remaining within one second of him, clearly intending to launch a counterattack once they reached the Drs Zone.
In the TR (presumably a chat window), Tangche asked Mattia, "Who's behind Bottas? How far behind Bottas are they?"
Mattia: "Magnussen, 1.2 seconds behind Bottas."
Tang Che: "Is he currently engaged in combat with anyone? Or is he likely to engage in combat with anyone?"
Mattia: "Magnussen is 1.5 seconds ahead of Pierre, so there shouldn't be any close battle in the next few laps."
Tang Che: "copy".
What would you do if a car with a tire advantage was waiting to overtake you in the Dresden zone? Would you try to create a gap before the Dresden zone and leave the car behind you a second behind?
Tang Che chose to stop the car.
Before Turn 13, after nearly being rear-ended by Bottas, Tangche asked Mattia again, "How far behind Bottas is Magnussen now?"
Mattia: "0.75 seconds."
Tanger: "Report on the gap between Bottas and Magnussen before Turn 17."
Turn 14, Turn 15... Tang Che continued to hold back.
Before Turn 17, Mattia reported: "Bottas is 0.55 seconds ahead of Magnussen."
Tang Che: "copy".
At the DRSS testing line, Tang Che suddenly slammed on the brakes, letting Bottas pass.
After passing the DRRS activation point, Tang Che activated DRRS, Magnussen activated DRRS, and the three vehicles pulled the DRRS high-speed train.
Does this scene look familiar? Doesn't it resemble the Dr.S. high-speed rail lines from Magnussen, Norris, and Tonchera?
Tang Che was simply repeating the same old trick.
The layout of the Jeddah circuit doesn't allow Tanger to leave Bottas more than a second behind in the consecutive corners. If he can't break away, he'll definitely be overtaken or even have the gap closed in the three consecutive DRSE zones, which could lead to a vicious cycle.
Once caught in this vicious cycle, Tontard will have to outlast Bottas until Bottas' tires wear out and he can no longer defend against Tontard.
That's such a waste of time!
So Tanger used the same tactic again, bringing Magnussen in to distract Bottas, so that he could create a wide distance just like before.
Magnussen could tell that Tanger was using the same old trick, but this time he was the beneficiary, so he had no objection.
Bottas could tell that Tancher was using the same trick again, so he blocked the line at Turn 22, giving Tancher no chance to cross the line.
Bottas is overthinking it; Tanger has absolutely no intention of making a move at Turn 22.
The second section is the Dr.S. high-speed rail zone.
Tangche was able to restrain himself from following the car without overtaking, but Magnussen couldn't. He had already followed into the attacking range and turned around to try to get past the two of them!
Bottas let Magnussen pass directly.
Bottas: I finally understand. Leading in the first and second DRRS zones is useless; getting DRRS in the third DRRS zone is the key.
Tang Che: You only know one side of the story. It is important to obtain the DRS in the third DRS zone, but it is even more important to know in what position you enter the third DRS zone.
Tang Che made a U-turn at the end of the second DRS zone, crossing Bottas was like crossing a street in the early morning!
I passed the third DRS inspection line immediately after overtaking. Both Tontatta and Bottas have DRS.
In the third DRRS zone, Tang Che started DRRS, Bottas started DRRS, and it was DRRS high-speed rail again! But this time the three trains were following very closely!
Taunter and Bottas pulled away almost simultaneously! Taunter surpassed Magnussen! Bottas surpassed Magnussen!
Turn 1 is crucial; whoever gets the line first will take the lead!
It's time for another braking battle... Tanger didn't brake late enough! He let Bottas enter the corner at extremely high speed!
Such an entry speed into the corner was disastrous for Turn 1! Bottas had to brake hard, which caused his tires to lock up!
Tangche calmly drove past Bottas and climbed back to P8!
This lead is different! Bottas has Magnussen constantly putting pressure on him from behind!
This series of bends is indeed difficult to overtake, but not impossible. If Bottas doesn't defend Magnussen seriously, he could still lose his position.
The defense will cost Bottas time, and he can't keep up with Taunter!
Before the first DRS detection line on this lap, Bottas was left more than 1 second behind by Tanger.
Bottas out!
This time, without Tangere asking, Mattia reported directly: "2.3 seconds behind Ocon of P7."
Tanger: "I report the gap between me and O'Connor every lap."
Mattia: "copy."
On lap 13, Mattia reported: "1.8 seconds behind Ocon."
"Driving this car, you can catch up by 0.5 seconds in one lap..." Tang Che was shocked upon hearing this, but couldn't believe it: "Is the timer broken?"
Mattia: "Ocon is locked in a fierce battle with Fernando."
That's not surprising, that's not surprising.
Tanger: "Tell Fernando to defend like a lion!"
Mattia settled in Bengbu.
The live stream director played this TR, and as a result, viewers all over the world were captivated.
