Chapter 3 Taking Stock of Our Assets
Chapter 3 Taking Stock of Our Assets
After receiving the information in her mind, Lin Shushu couldn't help but feel sorry for the original owner. She had been without parents since childhood, and it would have been better if she had no relatives at all. She had never stepped out of the small courtyard even at the age of eighteen.
To be honest, the original owner's disappearance was rather inexplicable; Lin Shushu couldn't find any related information in her memories. However, now that she's here, she will take the original owner's place and live her own life, never again being controlled by others.
Thinking of this, Lin Shushu looked around and found that the so-called desolate star was not really empty. At least there were unknown weeds and low shrubs on the ground, and there were also faint hills and trees in the distance.
Lin Shushu was unaware that this planet was originally an energy planet, producing obsidian crystals, a raw material for making mechs. The An family had given An Sheng their only energy planet as part of her dowry, intending to bolster her confidence and prevent her from being looked down upon on the Imperial Star. Unfortunately, An Sheng died too young, before she could utilize it.
After An Sheng's death, ownership of the planet fell to Lin Cheng'an, but since he was too young, it had to be entrusted to his guardian. The Lin family, being large and powerful, didn't think much of this small planet.
Later, Ning Ya found out and took over the management rights, mining the obsidian herself. The profits naturally went into Ning Ya's pocket. Nearly fifty years have passed, and now the obsidian has been completely mined out. Star M19 has become a so-called wasteland. Lin Shushu has just come of age, and this wasteland has become the best place to settle her.
Lin Shushu walked around for half an hour and suddenly noticed something was wrong. These plants seemed to be too small and wilted, lacking the vitality of ordinary plants, and looked malnourished.
Moreover, Lin Shushu noticed that something seemed off about her too; she felt dizzy and unsteady on her feet. A thought suddenly struck her: she remembered the space novels she had read before. Could it be because of air pollution?
Thinking of this, Lin Shushu stopped exploring the planet and reached up to touch her neck, where there was an orchid mark. It was left after the Yuan Pearl disappeared. After arriving here, Lin Shushu discovered that the original owner of the body had an orchid-shaped birthmark on her neck.
After a flash of white light, Lin Shushu disappeared from the spot.
When Lin Shushu opened her eyes, she found herself in an unfamiliar environment. She was standing by a small river. The river was crystal clear, and the water flowed slowly downstream. Silver fish swam around in the water.
Lin Shushu looked around. In the distance, mountains surrounded the area, with clouds rising and stretching as far as the eye could see. Nearby was a large expanse of grass, lush and green, seemingly knee-deep. In the gentle breeze, the grass swayed in the same direction, creating a scene reminiscent of wheat fields swaying in the wind.
Looking at everything before her, Lin Shushu's heart leaped with joy. The dizziness she had felt earlier had vanished, and she now felt refreshed and invigorated. Turning around, she saw a three-story wooden pavilion standing quietly fifty meters away. Lin Shushu walked towards the pavilion.
Upon approaching, Lin Shushu slowly pushed open the door of the pavilion, and what came into view was a huge screen in front of her, on which was painted a landscape painting.
Lin Shushu stepped forward to examine the painting closely. On the left, she saw a range of mountains stretching into the distance, with a waterfall cascading down a mountain stream into a pool at the bottom, creating splashes higher than a person. In the center of the painting, a small river meandered, with a vast meadow on one side and an elegant pavilion on the other. Seeing this, Lin Shushu realized that this must be a realistic depiction of a space. She then moved to the right side of the painting, where there was a forest, the contents of which she couldn't yet discern.
After admiring the screen, Lin Shushu turned her gaze to both sides, where she saw long display shelves on each side. The left side displayed exquisite objects of various sizes, including jade carvings and porcelain... a wide variety of items, all of which Lin Shushu had never seen before. "These are probably the trinkets my elders were talking about," Lin Shushu thought.
Upon arriving at the antique display shelf on the right, Lin Shushu noticed that half of it was filled with books, and the other half with various small jade bottles.
Lin Shushu casually picked up a jade bottle, uncorked it, and a delicate fragrance wafted out, instantly clearing her mind. She quickly replaced the cork, turned the bottle over, and saw the words "Heart-Clearing Pill" clearly written on the bottom. Lin Shushu picked up a nearby bottle to examine it; it contained various pills, including Marrow Cleansing Pill, Foundation Building Pill, Barrier-Breaking Pill, and Rejuvenation Pill… a complete array of them.
Reaching the bookshelf, Lin Shushu picked up a book, the words "Introduction to Cultivation" on the cover catching her eye. Intrigued, she began to read. Once she started, she couldn't stop. Lin Shushu finally understood the entire cultivation system.
Cultivation is divided into three realms: the lower realm, the middle realm, and the upper realm. Each realm has its own sub-realms. For example, the lower realm is divided into Qi Refining, Foundation Establishment, Golden Core, Nascent Soul, and Spirit Transformation; the middle realm is divided into Void Refining, Body Integration, and Great Ascension. Very few people can reach the upper realm, so this introductory book does not cover it.
Lin Shushu closed the book, and suddenly her stomach churned, realizing she was hungry. Lin Shushu chuckled; it seemed she needed to fill her stomach first.
Remembering the little silver fish in the river, Lin Shushu immediately got up and left the pavilion. Arriving at the riverbank, Lin Shushu looked at the fish in the water, troubled; she didn't know how to catch them. Suddenly, a thought struck Lin Shushu. Since this was a small world of cultivation, and she had become its master, why should she bother to catch them herself? Lin Shushu spotted the two largest silver fish, and with a thought, the fish broke the surface of the water and landed at her feet.
Success! Lin Shushu was overjoyed. She used a dagger she had taken from the attic to gut the fish, gathered some firewood, and started a fire. Soon, the aroma of the fish filled the air, and Lin Shushu swallowed hard, eagerly beginning to eat.
As expected, anything produced by this space is extraordinary. The fish tastes absolutely divine—fresh, tender, and fragrant, a truly amazing experience, almost like ascending to heaven. Lin Shushu was unaware that this kind of fish is rare even in the cultivation world. Eating it not only cleanses the marrow and refines the body but also enhances cultivation, making it a coveted delicacy for cultivators of lower realms.
After eating and drinking her fill, Lin Shushu lay on the soft grass, enjoying the gentle breeze, and soon fell asleep.
At this moment, within Lin Shushu's body, the energy transformed from the silver fish was slowly tempering her, helping her cleanse her meridians and marrow. Lin Shushu was still fast asleep, unaware of the great surprise that awaited her upon waking.
There was no darkness in the space. Lin Shushu slowly awoke, unaware of how much time had passed. The moment she moved, she immediately noticed something different; her body felt lighter than ever before, as if some power was about to be released from it.
Lin Shushu carefully sensed it, and sure enough, a warm current was nourishing her whole body, and her meridians seemed to be opened up. This feeling was just like the changes described in the book during the Qi Refining stage.
Lin Shushu was overjoyed. She sat up and, following the instructions of the cultivation method, calmed her mind and connected with the spiritual energy of heaven and earth. Soon, she felt spiritual energy gathering from all directions and entering her body. After a long while, Lin Shushu opened her eyes. If she wasn't mistaken, she had reached the Great Perfection of Qi Refining.
Lin Shushu grilled two more fish, and after eating her fill, she returned to the attic to continue exploring the secrets of the second and third floors.
