Because of the identities of Shu's parents, they were not properly buried after their deaths. They were buried on a desolate mountain in the suburbs, where no one lived and the land was overgrown with weeds.
The car stopped at the foot of the mountain. Shu Yun was pregnant and it was inconvenient for her to climb the mountain. With Gu Jun's help, she went up a small hill, put the fruit and pastries she had brought on the ground, and bowed in the direction of the mountain.
"Mom and Dad, are you doing well down there? I'm doing great now, so don't worry about me. I'm married now, my husband is a soldier, he treats me very well, and we'll be having our own baby soon, so don't worry."
As Shu Yun spoke, she choked up a little. In her memory, her parents loved the original owner very much and never let her suffer any hardship. She was beautiful but delicate, and would wither away immediately if she was exposed to wind and rain.

When they met Shu Yun's gaze, the cat meowed. Gu Jun said, "It's probably a stray cat from the neighborhood."
Shu Yun nodded. The white cat's pupils were a beautiful amber color. When the cat and the person looked at each other, Shu Yun seemed to feel tolerance and love in their eyes.
Shu Yun shook her head, trying to clear the jumbled thoughts from her mind. Was it just a hallucination caused by not sleeping well last night?
"Should we put away the tribute?" Gu Jun asked.
Shu Yun snapped out of her reverie and shook her head. "Let's leave it to the kittens in the mountains."
She glanced at the mountain peak one last time and whispered, "Mom and Dad, we're leaving now. We'll come to see you again next time."
Gu Jun slowly helped Shu Yun down the road. After helping her into the car and closing the door, he glanced into the dense forest before getting back into the car.
The car started and drove slowly and smoothly on the dirt road. The quiet forest was filled with rustling sounds again. The black cat and white cat that had just appeared poked their heads out and watched the departing car.
The black cat snuggled up to the white cat as if to comfort it, gently licking the white cat's head.
In the car, Shu Yun was in a bad mood, staring blankly out the window, which worried Gu Jun, who kept turning around to check on her.
Shu Yun sighed helplessly, "Just drive carefully."
Gu Jun nodded, but after arriving at the military base, he took out a biscuit from his bag, picked out one, and said, "Here, you can only eat one. Don't be upset."
Shu Yun: ...
"Alright, it would be foolish not to eat if there's something to eat." She took it and took small bites of the biscuit. Gu Jun breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that her face had regained its radiance.
Gu Jun, carrying his things, opened the door and said to Shu Yun, "Starting today, I will supervise your daily exercise."

"Xiaoyun, you're back! I was just about to borrow your spatula to cook something, but I can't find it anywhere."

Shu Yun asked Gu Jun to go to the kitchen to get it, and Tian Xiufen said, "I'll return it in a bit."
Shu Yun: "No need to rush, sister-in-law. We won't cook lunch today, we'll eat in the cafeteria."
"Oh, oh." Tian Xiufen nodded, then, seeing Shu Yun's red eyes, hesitated before asking, "Shu Yun, what's wrong?"
Shu Yun touched her eyes and laughed, "It's nothing, a little bug just got into my eye, I rubbed it."
It's best not to make a fuss about going to pay respects to Shu's parents. After all, given their identities, if people find out and keep harping on it, it could very well affect Shu Yun and Gu Jun.
Tian Xiufen nodded. In her eyes, Shu Yun's smile was just like a forced smile. She hesitated for a long time, and when she saw Gu Jun arrive, she just patted Shu Yun's hand and said, "Sister-in-law has always been next door. If you need anything, just ask her."
Shu Yun was puzzled, but still nodded and thanked Tian Xiufen.
The food at the military base was good today. The braised radish was soft, juicy, and sweet, and there was also cabbage stew with glass noodles. Shu Yun even found a few pieces of pork lard in it, which made her mouth feel oily and fragrant. Shu Yun let out a small burp, wiped her mouth, lay down on the rocking chair next to her, closed her eyes, and started to feel sleepy.
But just as she was about to fall asleep, someone pulled her up. Gu Jun said, "Wake up, don't sleep yet, get up and digest your food."
Shu Yun rubbed her eyes and yawned, refusing to get up. "Wait a minute, I'll take a nap first, and then I'll get up and exercise when I wake up."

Gu Jun shoved the clothes he had packed into Shu Yun's arms and said, "Don't follow me anymore. Go fold the clothes and put them in the closet."
Shu Yun asked, "And what about you?"
Gu Jun chuckled and said, "I'm going to the restroom, are you coming with me?"
Shu Yun let out a "Huh" and said disdainfully, "I'm not going."
After exercising, Shu Yun drew for a while, then drowsiness washed over her. She took off her coat, crawled into bed, closed her eyes, and soon her breathing became even. Gu Jun came in to check on her and, seeing that she was sleeping soundly, gently covered her with the blanket before tiptoeing out. He took some pieces of wood and started cutting and planing them in the yard. He was skillful, and soon a small wooden duck took shape. He then used sandpaper to smooth the duck until it was free of burrs.
Shu Yun's biological clock is very punctual; she wakes up after sleeping for a full hour. She had barely opened her eyes when she heard voices in the bedroom after a few seconds of silence. Shu Yun quickly got dressed and went outside. "What's going on? Are they arguing over there?"
Gu Jun gestured to the next room, and Shu Yun moved closer. Tian Xiufen's loud voice suddenly rose in pitch, startling Shu Yun, who was still groggy from just waking up. She leaned back, lost her balance, and swayed, which startled Gu Jun so much that he broke out in a cold sweat. He abandoned the wooden carving in his hand and quickly steadied her, saying, "Be careful."
Shu Yun leaned against Gu Jun's chest, not listening to a word he said, her ears perked up as she listened to the conversation next door.
Gu Jun chuckled, "Why are you so gossipy?" His wife may seem aloof, but she's actually quite fond of gossip and joining in the fun.
Shu Yun glared at him and pushed him away slightly, saying, "Go away, keep your voice down, it's not good if someone hears you."
It's not good to be overheard, so does that justify you eavesdropping?
