Chapter 406 - 406: 406: Dumbledore's Ritual Magic
After that misunderstanding, known only to the two of them, came to an end, the Weasley twins were once again kicked out of the shop by Kasenhis. The reason was simple enough: he was afraid they'd just get in the way.Since the blueprints the twins had provided were... extraordinarily bizarre, the renovation was unlikely to be finished quickly.
And it wasn't just a matter of decorating. They also needed a basement for the shop, where they could build their Infusion Altar to serve as their infusion workshop.
The ground floor would be the joke shop, while a section of the floor in the middle would be left open, allowing the floating rune matrix of the Infusion Altar to hover within the opening and serve as an incredibly cool decoration visible from the first floor.
The second floor, meanwhile, would serve as the living area, with their bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, and sitting room...
Kasenhis had contracted a disease that prevented him from stopping once he started decorating...
It wasn't until the third day that Kasenhis Ender Teleported back to the Black residence. Seeing the twins barbecuing in the courtyard, he immediately Ender Teleported them straight to Diagon Alley and told them to hurry up and admire their brand-new, ridiculously awesome shop.
As for himself, he returned to his bedroom, took a shower, and prepared to sleep.
After all, he had spent three days renovating without rest. Unless he finished everything in one go, he simply couldn't bring himself to rest. He wouldn't even be able to sleep.
And now, he finally could...
Soon, he was lying in bed. The curtains were drawn shut, soothing music drifted from the record player in the corner, sleep-inducing incense filled the air, and the entire room radiated the atmosphere of a good night's sleep.
And then...
"Why am I suffering from insomnia?" Kasenhis stared helplessly at the pitch-black ceiling and reluctantly began counting sheep.
"One sheep, two sheep, three sheep, four sleep..."
"One thousand two hundred and thirty-two sleep, one thousand two hundred and thir... huff..."
Three minutes after Kasenhis finally fell asleep...
"Kasenhis! I have something extremely important." Dumbledore suddenly knocked on the door of Kasenhis' room.
Kasenhis helplessly opened the door and looked at him.
"Is it something concerning Voldemort?"
Dumbledore shook his head.
"Is it about Horcruxes?"
Dumbledore shook his head.
"Is it about someone's life being in danger?"
Dumbledore still shook his head.
"Then what is it?" Kasenhis asked.
"I saw an old gentleman taking a stroll around Grimmauld Place. He had a very exquisite lighter for lighting his pipe, so I'd like to ask you to make me an even cooler one."
"...."
Dumbledore looked at the silent Kasenhis in confusion.
"What's wrong?"
For a moment, Kasenhis had no idea what expression he ought to make. He simply laughed helplessly, patted Dumbledore on the shoulder, and gently turned him around.
"Oh, I see. You turned me around because you don't want me to see your methods, and you want to give me a huge surprise, right?" Dumbledore said cheerfully.
Kasenhis' laughter became even more bitter.
"Y-yeah... that's right. Exactly."
Then he took off his slippers, as doing so would minimise the sound of his footsteps.
He slowly retreated two steps, then suddenly charged forward and delivered a flying kick, sending Dumbledore straight through the air.
"I'm up at eight in the bloody morning!" Kasenhis roared.
As Dumbledore ended up neatly embedded in the wall, Kasenhis returned to bed. Just as he was preparing to return to dreamland, he painfully realised...
Perhaps because that flying kick had involved too much movement...
He... probably... couldn't sleep anymore...
"Let's start over..."
"One sheep, two sheep, three sheep, four sleep..."
"Two thousand three hundred and thirty-three sleep... two thousand three hundred and thirty-four sh-"
Kasenhis snapped.
Furious and miserable, he pushed open the door and walked out of his room. Seeing Dumbledore still embedded in the wall with nobody coming to rescue him improved his mood by the tiniest amount.
Just then, Mrs Weasley came upstairs. Seeing Kasenhis, she waved and walked over.
"Looks like you didn't sleep very well, Professor Kasenhis, so I've brought you some Draught of Living Death. I guarantee it'll put you to sleep until tomorrow morning..."
Then she noticed the dust on the floor.
"Oh, it's a bit dirty here."
As she spoke, she handed the Draught of Living Death to Kasenhis and took out her wand to clean the dust away.
Only then did she notice Dumbledore embedded in the wall.
"Oh, what's this..." Mrs Weasley asked in confusion.
"Dumbledore. He's studying geckos. According to him, geckos stick to walls, and he sticks to walls, so naturally, if geckos can regenerate lost limbs, then he, who also sticks to walls, can regenerate lost limbs as well," Kasenhis answered with complete nonsense.
"But wizards can already regenerate lost limbs," Mrs Weasley said in puzzlement.
"He probably wants to avoid the cost. That requires potions and healers, doesn't it? By studying geckos, all he has to do is eat food, and then he can achieve financial freedom by selling off his old arms and legs," Kasenhis continued to ramble as though speaking in his sleep.
"Oh, Kasenhis, I think you really need a good sleep. Just drink half of it, alright? Remember to get up for dinner this evening."
Mrs Weasley could tell that Kasenhis was rather muddled, so she coaxed him like a child into drinking half a bottle of Draught of Living Death. Only after making sure he had gone to sleep did she leave the room.
She glanced at Dumbledore, who was still embedded in the wall, and sighed helplessly.
"This must be some sort of ritual magic similar to an Animagus transformation. The difference is that Animagi turn themselves into animals, while you've chosen to acquire the traits of a gecko... In any case... good luck, and remember to climb out of that hole in time for dinner."
"..."
"Well, I can tell you don't really feel like talking, right?"
"..."
"Then I won't disturb you."
Mrs Weasley nodded and left the corridor.
