I woke up to find myself transmigrated into a disabled child.

Chapter 16 Incomplete Talent

Chapter 16 Incomplete Talent

"That day, a rare blue moon appeared, and with the blue moon came a swarm of insects. That very night, the Mother Tree generated a strong void resonance, a tremor that the entire Jormungand had never experienced before, at least not in the hundreds of years since I was born. Everyone was terrified, including those wretched insects, who didn't even wait for the tremor to subside before they began to riot almost immediately."

At the mention of insects, anger flashed in Le Chu's eyes; this was the first time Le Zhi had ever seen Le Chu so emotionally expressive. Hearing this, Le Zhi seemed to have already guessed what would happen next.

"So, my seed shell was stolen by insects?"

"Yes and no."

What answer is this?

Seeing the confusion in Lezhi's eyes, Lechu explained gently, "The Mother Tree would not allow the Zerg to invade its birthplace. When the Void Resonance occurs, it is also when the Mother Tree's internal defenses are at their weakest. But even so, the Mother Tree did its best to infuse your seed shell with enough energy. According to the plan, you should have returned to your clan's territory under the protection of your clan members at that time, but the situation changed. The Void Resonance did not end within the normal time. An unforeseen event occurred in Jormungand."

“We don’t know what efforts the mother tree made that day, but after a long period of tremors, the insects all dispersed on their own. But at the same time, you, who should have stayed in your birthplace, also disappeared.”

Raising her hand to rub Lezhi's head, Lechu's eyes flashed with lingering fear.

“Every offspring is a treasure. Our tree spirit race faces difficulties in conceiving, and all new life comes from the Mother Tree. Therefore, we will never abandon any member of our race. When we discovered you were missing, all of our race searched with all our might, including us. But Jormungand is too vast. Even if all the tree spirits mobilized, we would not be able to accurately locate your presence in a short time. So, we had no choice but to seek help from the Mother Tree.”

“Not all tree spirits can hear the Mother Tree’s whispers. We were gambling on a possibility. Fortunately, the former chieftain of the Thunder Clan received the Mother Tree’s message and promptly sent someone to inform us of your whereabouts, which is why we found you so quickly.”

"The Thunder Clan?"

Hearing a new term again, still related to himself, Lezhi asked out of curiosity.

"Yes, he's from the Thunder Clan. His name is Lei Xiu. I'll take you to meet him sometime. He can receive information about you from the Mother Tree, which means there's a unique bond between you two. You'll definitely like him."

Hearing Le Chu's certainty about this inexplicable bond, Le Zhi was somewhat noncommittal, nodding indifferently. He could indeed meet her if given the chance, but he wasn't particularly fixated on it.

“We’ll talk about that later. My main point is your current situation. Tree spirits are supposed to be able to sense wings from the moment they hatch, and their innate seed shells are absorbed into their talent space. They also have the ability to sense wood, which depends on their talent. Some are very powerful and can create a forest with a wave of their hand, while others are more average. But no matter what, they definitely have it. Your current situation is clearly different.”

"So, I called you here to make sure that, apart from not being able to feel the wings, everything else..." The last sentence disappeared from her throat; Le Chu really couldn't bear to ask it out loud.

Although they were mentally prepared when they first discovered that Lezhi's seed coat was not fully developed, it is still too cruel to make Lezhi face its imperfections now.

Meanwhile, Lezhi, who was being treated with great care, didn't seem too affected by the facts Lechu revealed. He had memories of a past life as a human, and his mind was that of an adult, not a true cub, so he wasn't as easily discouraged as Lechu and the others thought. Moreover, according to Lechu, he wasn't as useless as he seemed; although he couldn't sense the existence of his wings, he still possessed some other talents.

"I seem to have a special space, and I can naturally sense whether plants are poisonous or edible. Does that count?"

"Yes, of course it counts. That's your talent." Hearing Lezhi's answer, a look of relief flashed across Lechu's face. It's good that he has talent. Although it sounds weak, it doesn't matter. Lezhi still has his clansmen to protect him and ensure his safe entry into adolescence.

"Ah."

Having received the answer they wanted, the two exchanged a smile. A gentle breeze swept by, carrying away the anxiety in Le Chu's heart.

At this point, Lechu brought up another practical issue, "Now that you can't spread your wings, we Hui people have to replan our journey. We can walk back, but it will be a bit tough. You have to be prepared."

Patting Lezhi on the shoulder, Lechu saw that even though Lezhi had just learned about her disability, she remained so calm. She knew that Lezhi was a strong girl. She frankly told Lezhi about the next steps and then waited for Lezhi's reaction.

"Hmm? Okay, I'm fine. I've been in the woods for the past two days, so there shouldn't be any problems."

Upon hearing Le Chu's words, Le Zhi quickly responded, "And there's also Mao Qiu here. Hmm, or you can give me a direction and I can walk back slowly by myself, or you can just fly back."

"No way, don't even think about it. How could we possibly let a cub like you cross the jungle and the Hui people's territory alone?"

Startled by Lezhi's sudden whim, Lechu's forehead creased with three black lines, his speechless expression almost tangible. Just moments ago he had been praising Lezhi's carefree attitude, but now he was starting to worry about it.

Maoqiu keenly recognized familiar words from the two's conversation. It lowered its head and gently touched Lezhi's body with its sharp beak, as if asking what was going on and what it should do.

Having just had his idea refuted by Le Chu, Le Zhi pouted. Although it was a bit far-fetched, his suggestion was still feasible, since Mao Qiu was so reliable.

"I'm not alone, I have Furball with me. It's super powerful. Before it transformed, it was tiny, but it could defeat opponents more than ten times its size. Now that it's grown so big, I don't think there's anything in this forest that can threaten it."

Seemingly lacking confidence in what she was saying, Lezhi's voice grew softer and softer, and under Lechu's increasingly sharp gaze, she slowly lowered her head.

Finally realizing that the person in front of her seemed to be a rebellious brat, Le Chu pressed her throbbing forehead, calming the bulging veins back into place. She took a deep breath and tried to speak calmly, "Le Zhi, stop talking. No means no. There's no room for negotiation on this."

"But……"

“No buts!” Le Chu stated her position clearly with a sharp tone.

Upon realizing that the strange two-legged creature seemed to be scolding Lezhi, Maoqiu immediately became displeased. Not allowing her beloved two-legged creature to be wronged, Maoqiu let out a sharp cry at Lezhi and spread her wings to protect Lezhi in her arms.

Seeing this, the Lingyu clan members who had been watching the conversation from the sidelines stopped waiting and began to gather around Le Chu and the others.

The tall young man who had been standing there rushed forward faster than the others, his hands already on guard, and asked, "Clan leader, what's wrong?"

Le Chu raised her hand to stop the tall young man from trying to be on guard. Before she could respond, Mao Qiu had already keenly sensed the vague intentions of these people to attack.

A glint of light flashed in his eyes, and Maoqiu's wings fluttered, signaling that he was ready for battle. They were now partially surrounded by the Spirit Feather Clan, with rocks behind them. Unless he stayed put and blocked Lezhi, he had nowhere to hide.

Quickly assessing the situation, Maoqiu lowered its head, picked up Lezhi's clothes from behind, and gently tossed them backward. The bewildered Lezhi was easily flung onto its broad back. Turning its head, Maoqiu let out a soft chirp, as if telling Lezhi to hold on tight, and then turned back to begin flapping its wings.

A little disoriented by the furry ball's sudden movement, Lezhi realized that the furry ball was preparing for takeoff. He quickly lay down, instinctively gripping the furry ball's back with both hands. He had barely uttered the word "wait" when the furry ball flapped its wings and took off, carrying him into the sky...
